Have You Tried Sea Monster Tea?

Sea Monster Tea 5

Okay it’s not for real called “sea monster tea”.  I think it’s called “blooming tea” or something boring like that.

BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THERE’S A SEA MONSTER IN YOUR TEAPOT.

Mrs. Nice gave me this glass teapot and a few “bullets” of this tea the last time I saw her so we thought we would try it out.

The tea itself is in this wee bullet form, all tightly wrapped around itself.

So you plop it in the pot.

Pour your boiling water over it.

And watch the thing unfurl.

This one had tentacles.  I seriously thought it was the Kraken.

Sea Monster Tea 2

This one was a bit more well-behaved, but could be mistaken for a sea anemone.

SEA MONSTERS.  IN YOUR TEA. WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT?

  1. I’ve seen flower tea like that from China but they looked more like flowers and less like glorious underwater weirdness! I love the sea monster-ish flavour of these. Did you have to go someplace weird to get them?

    1. My mother-in-law gave it to me so I’m not sure where it came from. And I think they were *supposed* to be flowers. I just have an overactive imagination and an odd fascination with sea monsters, so I interpolated …

I have a plan at some point in the future (when I’m back living in a place where such things are available) to buy my own edible leaves and stuff and make my own little bullets. Then I’m going to embed tiny plastic items in them, like sharks and scuba divers, which will emerge when the bullet opens up. At least, that’s my plan. I tend to have a lot of those that never pan out.

      1. Alas, Amazon.ca hasn’t yet progressed much into the home decor and all that stuff. I looked it up and there’s a bunch of books on mixing cocktails. But I CAN find it on Amazon.com, so maybe I’ll get my brother to grab me some next time he’s online shopping … thanks for the tip!
