Sponge Trouble

Sponge Trouble

I know.  Sponges are germy little germ factories.  They really are truly gross.

But I do so love me a good cellulose scrubby sponge.  I can’t help myself.  It’s my favourite cleaning tool.

There are two things you can do to make your little germ factories work for you (aside from replace them often).  The first is to microwave a wet sponge for a couple minutes every now and then.  This will help to kill some of the germs in the sponge.

The second is to make sure that your sponge can dry out completely between uses.  This will keep the mould down.  And if you don’t have one of those fancy sponge caddies that take up a chunk of your valuable counter space, not to fret.  Just clip the end of your sponge with a giant plastic hair clip (or two little ones, like I did here).  That will keep your sponge off the counter and allow it to dry completely.

Neat trick, huh?
